The river
The Scott is a tributary of the Klamath and part of the National Wild and Scenic Rivers system. It is named for John Scott who discovered gold here in 1850. Due to small snowpack reservoir and upriver irrigation needs, the Scott's season is usually short. Prepare for a very challenging run. Tough rapids are almost continuous, with short pools separating sharp, boulder choked drops. Expect the unexpected.
Good fitness level, spirit, courage and wisdom are a must.

Meting time and place
We usually meet the morning of our trip at 9am right by the river. Our trip ends around 4pm.

Driving north on I-5, take the first Yreka exit. Turn left and take Hwy. 3 to Fort Jones. Drive through the town and take a right by Ray's Supermarket onto the Scott River Road. The put-in is about 17 miles, just after the road crosses the river. The access is on the right, just below the bridge. If you get to Bridge Flat campground, you have gone just a little too far.
Look for our red Ford van, we'll be waiting for you.

Allow about 1 1/2 to 2 hours driving time from Mt Shasta, 2 1/2 to 3 hours from Redding.
